Indian Head Massage
It sounds divine doesn’t it? A real treat that have been around for more then 1,000 years! But actually, IHM isn’t simply a ‘treat’. The benefits are really rather crucial and can assist you with a variety of physical and emotional problems and concerns. And that's why I am more then happy to bring my services to the Parksville, Qualicum Beach and Nanaimo area starting July 15th 2018.
Also, as much as everyone needs to ''unplug'' and reset from our stressful lifestyle, not everyone is comfortable to get a full body massage. Therefore, I believe IHM is is a great alternative. It is beneficial to allow a body/mind reset; it helps to release neck and upper back pain and migraine'.
IHM or shirobhyanga, is a modality that has its roots in the healing practice of Ayurveda. This massage technique, practiced with the client seated, has a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating effect through work on the “marma”, or pressure points, and various massage techniques on neck, head and face. The massage is typically an hour practice which also includes the upper arms and shoulders and focuses on releasing tension in the body, as well as mental stress.
IHM is a practice which is beneficial in relieving headaches, stress, insomnia, “computer shoulders” and depression. It works on an energetic, emotional and physical level. It is a simple and effective treatment. The oils used on the scalp are optional and are wild-crafted organic Ayurvedic oils, used traditionally to relieve stress, nourish the scalp and address issues of hair loss and dry scalp.
Benefits of Indian Head Massage:
1. Helps prevent migraines, headaches and back pain
Tension in the upper back, neck and head can lead to migraines, headaches and back pain which can make for uncomfortable living on a day-to-day basis.
2. Promotes hair growth
This is a lovely ''side effect'' of the Indian Head Massage. The massage increases nourishment and oxygen to the scalp and hair follicle which in turns stimulates hair growth.
3. Detoxifies the body by stimulating lymphatic drainage
Indian Head Massage stimulates and improves lymphatic drainage and blood flow to the neck thus helping to remove waste products from the body.
4. Relieves sleeplessness, restlessness and insomnia
The Indian Head Massage will immediately relieve stress and promote relaxation. Therefore, will be favorable to a deeper sense of wellbeing and opening your body to better rest.
5. Relieves symptoms of anxiety and depression
Massaging the head encourages the supply of oxygen to the brain which is one of the best ways of reducing anxiety.
6. Renews energy levels
An Indian Head Massage works with the Ayurvedic concept which goes beyond the limits of healing and places emphasis on balance. Working on the chakras through Indian Massage has a powerful effect in bringing the energy of the body back into balance.
7. Boosts memory capabilities
Often we have short-term memory difficulties because our brains are overloaded with disorganised thoughts.
